OnePlus has been around for a while now, to be specific – seven years. The brand has become extremely popular since its inception thanks to its value for money smartphones with premium features. Users have come to recognise the red and white logo of the brand along with the square symbol of OnePlus. The company now feels that the time is ripe to take a new direction and has introduced a new logo today. However, OnePlus is not straying too far from its brand identity and has kept the visuals almost similar.
Starting with the obvious change, the font in the logo is bolder than before along with a new curvilinear ‘1’ number that is easier to read. The digit is also the same size as the ‘Plus’ symbol. OnePlus notes that with the new logo it retained a classic look with a more balanced feel. The ‘+’ symbol is a nod to the OnePlus community that has played a key role in the company’s success. Apart from this, the company has also changed its ‘Never Settled’ tagline as well to the same new font. OnePlus claims that the newer font helps in a more flexible application and improved recognition in digital media. Going forward, OnePlus will also shift its colour palette to include cyan, green, magenta, indigo, and yellow, and not just red or white. OnePlus has been working on the new set of graphics for over seven months.
Global Creative Director of OnePlus, Mats Hakansson says that ‘OnePlus is not changing who we are, but reinforcing what we stand for – the true spirit of Never Settle. We always design for our users. We feel that these changes maintain the iconic elements of our brand that are beloved by our staff and our community while injecting both excitement and balance into our visual identity’.
The new OnePlus logo is expected to debut on the OnePlus 8 series. Reports suggest that the brand will unveil its upcoming flagships on April 15th.
