On: August 23, 2018

China based manufacturer Oppo has launched a new smartphone in the Indian market. The Oppo A5 was first launched in home country in July. With the launch of A5, the company has expanded the range of its A series smartphones in India. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications this device has to offer:

Display & Design:

The Oppo A5 sports a 6.2-inch bezel-less HD+ display with a notch on the top. The display bears an 19:9 aspect ratio. Design-wise, the device flaunts a stylish diamond like finish on the rear side like the one we have seen on Realme 1. The device lacks a fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack for connecting any audio accessories. The A5 ships in Rose Gold and Blue color variants.

In the camera department, the Oppo A5 features a dual rear camera setup with 13MP primary sensor and 2MP secondary sensor. It is accompanied by LED flash. The front of the device houses a 8MP snapper for selfies backed by AI enabled Beauty Technology which claims to recognize 296 facial outputs. It also doubles up as a face recognition feature that compensates the absence of fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device.

Hardware, OS & Battery:

Under the hood, the Oppo A5 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz. It is paired with 4GB RAM and Adreno 506 graphics processor onboard. Storage-wise, the device offers 64GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
Out of the box, the A5 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS with Oppo’s custom ColorOS 5.1 layered on the top. The device is fueled by a 4230 mAh battery unit and claims to deliver 14 hours of video playback on single charge. As for connectivity, this smartphone packs all the basic options like 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth & GPS.

Pricing & Availability:

Going by the specifications, the Oppo A5 is priced at Rs 14,990. It will be available offline through brick and mortar stores. The Oppo A5 will compete against the likes of Redmi Note 5 Pro, Zenfone Max Pro M1, and Nokia 6.1 Plus.
