A few weeks ago, Chinese smartphone maker OPPO launched the A5s in its home country. The company’s A-series smartphones fall in the affordable price segment. Recently, there were reports that OPPO may launch a new A-series smartphone in India at some point this month. Now, as per 91mobiles, the company has launched the OPPO A5s quietly in the country. The device is a slightly upgraded variant of the A5 launched last year. Let’s take a look at what the A5s offers out of the box:
The OPPO A5s sports a 6.2-inch display bearing an HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch on the top. The back of the phone houses a conventional fingerprint scanner and a horizontal dual camera setup. The OPPO A5s base variant can be availed in two colour options – Black, and Red while the 4GB+64GB model is available in Green, and Gold colours. In terms of camera, the A5s sports a 13MP + 2MP dual rear setup and an 8MP front shooter.
On the hardware front, the OPPO A5s is the first phone to be equipped with a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset. The device is available in two configurations of 2GB, and 4GB RAM, and 32GB or 64GB storage. Both the variants support microSD cards up to 256GB for additional storage needs. On the software front, the device runs on Android Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2. A 4,230mAh battery fitted inside keeps the OPPO A5s running.
Pricing & Availability:
The price of OPPO A5s starts at Rs 9,990 for the base variant. The device is already up for sale from April 20. The 4GB++64GB variant will be available in May 2019. The OPPO A5s is available on all major e-commerce sites soon i.e. Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Tata CLiQ, and PayTM Mall as well as through offline retailers in the country.
At this price point, the OPPO A5s will go up against the likes of Redmi Note 7, Realme 3, Galaxy A20 etc.
