Selfie centric Oppo A77 with 16 megapixel front-facing camera now official

Chinese cell phone maker Oppo launched the company’s latest selfie-centric phone–the Oppo A77–in Taiwan. It comes as little surprise as Oppo was teasing the R11 earlier this week. Hence expectations were the company would first announce the Oppo R1 before latching up onto anything else.

Talking more about the Oppo A77, it boasts of a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies, which is also a selling point for the brand. The phone is priced at TWD 10,990, which translates roughly at Rs 23,490. The Oppo A77 will be sold in Gold and Rose Gold colours starting May 26th. However, the pre-order begins starting tomorrow, May 19th.

The Oppo A77 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Color OS 3.0, which is a bummer. The phone also lacks a dedicated memory card support. It comes with a hybrid SIM slot wherein the second slot can be used to expand the storage up to 128GB. Up front, there is a 5.5-inch 1080p display. Inside, there is a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750T octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.

As far as cameras are concerned, the Oppo A77 houses a 13-megapixel primary sensor with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and dual LED flash. According to Oppo, the portrait mode inside the device can produce a depth-of-field effect using a background blur feature. It also comes with a front-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Oppo A7 packs a 3,200mAh battery in addition to the set of connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS and more.
