OPPO A9 with Dewdrop Display and 16MP Dual Camera Announced in China

A new A-series smartphone by OPPO called the OPPO A9 has silently gone official in China. The smartphone is now listed on the official website of OPPO China. The smartphone features a massive display, a big battery and a decent dual camera setup.

OPPO A9 Specifications and Features

The OPPO A9 comes with a glossy polycarbonate body that measures 162 x 76.1 x 8.3mm and weighs 190 grams. The phone is fitted with a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel. The Dewdrop notch screen supports full HD+ resolution. The screen of the OPPO A9 is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The handset offers a screen to body ratio of 90.70 percent.

The OPPO A9 smartphone is powered by 2.1 GHz octa-core processor, most likely the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. The SoC is supported by 6GB of RAM and it comes with a native storage of 128GB. The smartphone features a big battery of 4,020mAh capacity. However, there is no support for rapid charging on the device.

The rear side of the OPPO A9 features an AI powered 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. Its coupled with features like AI scene recognition, AI Ultra Clear Engine for bright night shots, AI portrait mode, HDR, and dual-tone LED flash. A 16-megapixel camera coupled with AI beauty features for optimised selfie shots is available on the frontside of the OPPO A9.

The ColorOS 6.0 based Android 9 Pie OS is available on the OPPO A9. The handset features GameBoost 2.0 for accelerated CPU and GPU performance for stutter-free gaming experience. The rear side of the phone features a fingerprint reader.

OPPO A9 Price and Release Date

The OPPO A9 is priced at 1,799 Yuan (~Rs 18,700) and it comes in coloirs like Mica Green, Ice Jade White and Fluorite Purple. The smartphone is now up for reservations through the official online store in China. Its sales will begin on April 30th. There is no word on the international availability of the OPPO A9.
