Most of the smartphone manufacturers have already launched their devices with the trending punch-hole display design, except for OPPO. However, the Chinese phone maker is now all set to introduce its first such products under the Reno range later this month. While the brand hasn’t officially confirmed it, the upcoming Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro handsets will have a hole in the screen to house the selfie camera. These phones will arrive as high-end offerings with 5G connectivity. In the meanwhile, OPPO also seems to be planning to launch budget handsets with the punch-hole display in the near future.
Ahead of an official announcement, an OPPO smartphone with a hole in the middle on top of the screen has been spotted in the database of Word Intellectual Property Organisation’s database in Europe. The presence of a micro-USB port at the bottom in one of the images in the patent filing suggests that it will be an affordable OPPO smartphone with a punch-hole design.
One of the photos shows the back of the handset. In the image, there seem to be four primary cameras with an LED flash unit. The three cameras of the device are placed in a module that’s placed vertically. On the right side of the module, there’s another camera with an LED flash unit. Below the camera module, there’s an oval-shaped fingerprint sensor. Lastly, the patent shows that the handset has a 3.5mm headphone socket at the bottom, a power button on the right side, and a volume rocker on the left.
Unfortunately, the patent hasn’t revealed anything else about the OPPO device with the punch-hole screen. We can expect the company to unveil this smartphone with a competitive price tag in early next year. We will update you more on the matter as soon as the company officially announces anything, so stay tuned for regular updates.
