Earlier this month OPPO had announced that it will unveil its upcoming flagship, the OPPO Find X2 on February 22nd ahead of MWC 2020. However, due to coronavirus fears, the event was cancelled and recent reports suggested a March 6th launch date. Now, in a Weibo post, the Chinese smartphone maker has officially announced that it will indeed launch the Find X2 on March 6th at 5 pm Beijing time. The upcoming smartphone will arrive as the successor to the original Find X that debuted in 2018. OPPO is also expected to unveil its first smartwatch at the same event.

The OPPO Find X2 series will be offered in standard and Pro variants. In addition to the launch date announcement, the company’s VP Brian Shen teased on Twitter confirming a 120Hz refresh rate panel and 3K resolution on the Find X2. However, it’s unknown if both the variants will come with 120Hz 3K displays. Shen also revealed that the smartphone’s display will feature a ‘waterfall-like’ design with physical buttons.

The OPPO Find X2 has been subject to a lot of leaks and rumours. Both the standard and Pro variants are expected to sport an AMOLED curved display measuring 6.5-inches. Although it’s unclear, the device could feature a punch-hole camera cutout at the top left corner or come with a pop-up camera mechanism. Camera details of the upcoming Find X2 are not known yet but the device is expected to pack a triple camera setup comprising 48MP+13MP+8MP sensors. The device is confirmed to feature 2 x 2-on chip lens from Sony. Upfront, the smartphone could be fitted with a 32MP selfie shooter.

Under the hood, the Find X2 series will be equipped with a Snapdragon 865 processor and a 5G modem. It will support dual-mode 5G SA and NSA networks. The device is also confirmed to support 65W VOOC fast charging technology.

Past reports suggest that the upcoming Find X2 may arrive with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The smartphone is expected to be backed by a 4,065mAh battery.
