Last year, OPPO had launched the much-awaited OPPO Find X flagship phone. The handset arrived as one of the first phones with a notch-less design and a pop-up camera. It was also the first Android phone with 3D facial recognition support. While OPPO did not launch a successor to the Find X this year, the company has confirmed that the Find X2 will be made official in Q1 2020.

Earlier this month, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform along with the X55 5G modem. The chipset with the new 5G modem can connect to sub-GHz and mmWave 5G frequencies. The 5G-ready chipset will be powering most Android flagship phones arriving in the year 2020. OPPO has confirmed that the Find X2 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 chipset. The Head of Global Sales for OPPO, Alen Wu and 5G scientist, Henry Tang confirmed that the Find X2 will only support sub-6GHz 5G frequencies.
The Chinese firm also revealed some information on the display of the OPPO Find X2. The smartphone is expected to arrive with support for a faster refresh rate, higher screen resolution, better colour reproduction and wider dynamic range than its predecessor.
The other area where the OPPO Find X2 will excel is photography, as it will be arriving with Sony’s latest image sensor that comes with a 2×2 On-Chip lens solution. The Japanese tech giant calls it “All Pixel omnidirectional PDAF technology”. It is Sony’s take on dual-pixel technology with high-speed autofocus in all directions.
OPPO did not reveal details on the technical specs of the Find X2. Considering the fact that the Find X2 will arrive with 5G support and flagship specs, we can expect it to command an expensive price tag.
