In a bid to elevate the overall smartphone experience, leading global smartphone brand OPPO recently introduced the K3, a powerful phone equipped with top-of-the-line specifications and brilliant design at a competitive price point. Available only on Amazon.in at a starting price of Rs 16,990, it is a strong contender against other mid-range phones, giving them a run for their money.
In India, the OPPO K3 rubs shoulders with the Vivo Z1 Pro that is available on Flipkart, and seeks to cater to online audiences as well. If you’re on the lookout for a phone in the said price bracket, let’s stack these phones against each other and see what both these titans have to offer:
Both the phones opt for gradient colours on their rear surfaces, which grant them a premium appearance. Both smartphones are equipped with 6.5-inch displays with full HD+ resolution, but what sets the OPPO K3 apart from the Z1 Pro is the presence of a Super AMOLED screen. The latter uses an LCD panel, which consumes more power as compared to the K3’s AMOLED display. OPPO K3 houses a 16MP rising front camera placed at the centre, providing a panoramic display with a 91.1% screen-to-body ratio, while the latter utilises an in-display front camera on the top left corner of the screen. The K3 also features an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is 28% faster than its predecessor and is generally found on high-end phones. In contrast, the Vivo Z1 Pro sticks to a traditional rear-mounted scanner. Both devices come equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for superior protection.
Similar performance is on offer for both these devices. While the OPPO K3 houses a Snapdragon 710 chipset, the Vivo Z1 Pro opts for a Snapdragon 712 processor. The latter is a slight upgrade over the former, however both are octa-core processors with Adreno 616 GPUs for delivering excellent everyday performance. The Vivo Z1 Pro falls behind in the RAM department though. The K3 offers up to 8GB RAM, but the Z1 Pro maxes out at 6GB. However, they both impress with their high-speed memory combinations, which include LPDDR4x memory and UFS 2.1 storage. Android 9.0 Pie goes inside these handsets, along with their respective skins. For the K3, it’s ColorOS 6.0, which brings a swift and intuitive new user interface, apart from a host of fresh features like an app drawer, while with the Z1 Pro, you get Funtouch OS 9.
OPPO offers some key technologies to elevate the overall gaming experience of the K3. Among these is Game Boost 2.0 that utilises Frame Boost and Touch Boost technology to enhance the frame rate and greatly improve touch performance. The OPPO K3 is also equipped with a 5-stage cooling system that helps in effectively managing the phone’s temperature by dispersing heat evenly to lower temperatures, resulting in greater performance potential and longer gaming hours.
The K3 also benefits from Link Boost Network Acceleration Technology, which optimises the performance of your phone based on your usage habits.
The Vivo Z1 Pro on the other hand comes with Multi-Turbo technology to optimise gaming, which includes Game Turbo to enhance gaming performance, as well as Cooling Turbo to offer reduced temperatures while gaming.
In order to further elevate the gaming experience, both these phones offera dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack, but the K3 goes a step beyond and delivers Dolby Atmos support through its speakers, resulting in superior audio quality during content consumption as well as gaming.
The K3 ships with a 3,765mAh battery at its core, which is smaller than the 5,000mAh unit inside the Z1 Pro. However, thanks to the OPPO K3’s VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 technology, the battery can be juiced up very fast. Another big advantage for the OPPO device is its incorporation of a USB Type-C port, compared to the outdated micro-USB port that’s present on the Z1 Pro.
While the Z1 Pro does seem to have more versatile shooters courtesy its triple camera setup, the OPPO K3 has a clear edge over the former thanks to cutting-edge features like a Super AMOLED panoramic display, transparent rising camera, in-display fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port with VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 charging. The OPPO K3 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced at 16,990, while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage edition is priced at Rs 19,990. It comes in two stunning gradient colours – Aurora Blue and Jade Black. This smartphone is currently trending on Amazon.in, where it is available with various exciting offers including Amazon Pay balance of Rs 1,000 and instant cashback of Rs 1,000 for Axis Bank Credit/Debit Card users.
