OPPO K7x with Dimensity 720 SoC goes official as the company’s cheapest 5G smartphone

OPPO has launched a new smartphone called the OPPO K7x in China. The new phone is the second K-series device after the OPPO K7 that was announced in OPPO’s home market in August. Unlike the K7 that came with a waterdrop notch display, the K7x features a punch-hole display that with a high refresh rate.

With a MediaTek Dimensity chip onboard, the OPPO K7x has arrived as the company’s cheapest 5G phone. Other key features include 48-mgeapixel quad cameras and a large battery with fast charging.

The OPPO K7x features an IPS LTPS LCD panel measuring 6.5-inches. It features Full HD+ resolution, a pixel density of 4055pi, up to 600nits brightness, and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The punch-hole display is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3.  For snapping selfies, the handset features a 16-megapixel selfie camera that supports 1080p video recording at 30fps with an anti-shake video feature.

The quad-camera setup placed on the back of the OPPO K7x sports a 48-megapixel main camera with f/1.7 aperture. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel B&W lens. The rear cameras comes with features like portrait mode, night scene mode, EIS, 1080p slow-motion video recording at 120fps, and 1080p video recording at 60fps.

The Dimensity 720 chipset is present under the hood of the OPPO K7x. The SoC is coupled with 6GB of LPPDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. It comes with a microSD card slot for further expansion.

The OPPO K7x is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery that comes with 30W VOOC charging support. The phone boots ColorOS 7.2 based on Android 10. The K7x offers other features like dual-SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

OPPO K7x pricing and availability

The OPPO K7x is priced at RMB 1,399 (~Rs 15,600) in China and it comes in two colour such as Black Mirror and Blue Shadow. Neither the OPPO K7 nor its predecessor OPPO K5 arrived in India. Hence, it is unclear whether the OPPO K7x will be launched in the country.
