Oppo, the Chinese consumer electronics firm, has launched a new smartphone in its A series – The Oppo A71. The company is known to release phones in India that majorly target the mid-range price segment and the A71 is expected to do just the same.
In terms of design, the smartphone features a metal unibody which is coated with a “nano silver technology” which according to the company is expected to “strengthen the gloss” of the metal. The device will be available in two colour variants – Black and Gold. On the front of the device sits its 5.2-inch screen and three capacitive keys coupled with the earpiece speaker grill and sensors at the top. On the back is where the primary camera module is situated with LED flash.
On the display front, the A71 features a 5.2-inch TFT LCD HD display that has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels which is relatively low when compared to its competition like Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4 that features a Full HD display. The A71’s display resolution roughly translates to about 280 pixels per inch which is moderately acceptable.
Camera & Performance
For the shutterbugs, the phone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera on the back having an aperture of f/2.2 whereas on the front is where the 5-megapixel selfie camera sits. Under the hood, the offering from Oppo is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 clocking at 1.5GHz. To top that up, Oppo has also supplemented the processor with a Mali T860 MP2 GPU and 3GB of RAM. Also, in terms of memory, the phone features a mere 16GB of internal storage which thankfully can be supplemented with the help of a microSD card.
Battery & Connectivity
As far as battery is concerned, the A71 is fit with a 3,000 mAh battery unit that should get you through the day with moderate use. Under its skin, the phone runs Oppo’s Color OS 3.1 skin which is built on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. The phone doesn’t fall short as far as connectivity is concerned either with support for Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and multiple 4G bands together with VoLTE.
The Oppo A71 is available in India for an asking price of Rs. 12, 490. Would you be willing to purchase this smartphone considering the offerings from other Chinese firms? Do let us know your views in the comments section below.
