Oppo R15x With In-Screen Fingerprint Scanner and Snapdragon 660 Announced

Oppo has announced a new smartphone named Oppo R15x in China. The specifications of the R15x are similar to the Oppo K1 that was announced earlier in this month. The handset features a waterdrop notch, an impressive front-facing camera and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Oppo R15x comes with a 3D glass rear and it can be availed in color gradient variants such as Nebula Purple and Ice Silver. The smartphone features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display that produces Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The display of the R15x produces an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent. The screen of the phone is embedded with an under-display fingerprint reader.

The Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the smartphone. The SoC is assisted by 6 GB of RAM. It has an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. For more storage, it features a hybrid dual SIM card slot that carries support for a microSD card. It features a 3,600mAh battery which lacks support for fast charging. The R15x is preinstalled with the ColorOS 5.2 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo.

The notch is the home for the phone’s 25-megapixel selfie camera. It includes various AI features for capturing beautified selfies. The rear of the phone features a horizontally aligned dual camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel primary lens and a secondary 2-megapixel depth sensor. The usual connectivity features such as 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack are available on the Oppo R15x.

Oppo R15x Pricing and Availability

Oppo R15x pre-sales have started in China. The handset carries a price tag of 2,499 Yuan (~Rs. 26,400). Oppo will begin the sales of the smartphone from November 1st. The Chinese manufacturer has not confirmed any details on the international availability of the smartphone.
