Realme 1 Launched in India with up to 6GB RAM, Starts at Rs. 8,990

Just recently, Oppo launched a new sub-brand in India called as Realme. Today, the Chinese brand launched its first smartphone under this new name for the Indian market – the RealMe 1. This is a Made in India smartphone and Oppo has partnered with Amazon to sell it in the country. So, the Realme 1 will be available only on Amazon India as of now. It is a budget smartphone and starts at just Rs. 8,990. Let’s see what it offers for this price.

Beginning with the display, it comes with a bezel-less 6-inch screen bearing a Full HD+ resolution. Even the aspect ratio is 18:5 and it offers an immersive viewing experience. It has a unique design theme and comes with a diamond-shaped pattern on the back. The brand claims that the back panel reflects light in a similar way like a diamond. It is available in three different colours: Diamond Black, Moonlight Silver and Solar Red.

On the rear, the phone features a 13-megapixel sensor accompanied with an LED flash. There is an 8-megapixel camera on the front for clicking selfies and making video calls. To make your selfies look more beautiful, Oppo also offers its AI Beauty 2.0 feature. Similar to most other smartphone these days, even the Realme 1 comes with the Face Unlock feature through the front camera. The brand claims that it takes just 0.1 seconds to unlock the phone via face.

One of the things that the phone lacks is a fingerprint sensor, which can be a let down for a lot of people as other phones in this price range offer that. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo but is layered with Oppo’s own Color OS 5.0. There is a 3,410 mAh battery unit that powers the phone. It comes with all the connectivity options such as 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Realme 1 also offers dual 4G VoLTE that lets you run 2 VoLTE SIM cards simultaneously.

In terms of performance, the phone packs in impressive specifications. It runs on the octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 processor that is clocked at 2GHz. There are three variants of the phone when it comes to RAM and storage options: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.

Pricing and Availability:

Oppo has made the price of this phone quite affordable, the lowest variant is priced at Rs. 8,990, the mid one costs Rs. 10,990 and the highest variant is priced at Rs. 13,900. The Realme 1 will be available for purchase through flash sales via Amazon India. The first flash sale is scheduled for 12 PM, May 25th.

With Realme, Oppo is trying to compete with Xiaomi in this already crowded budget segment. Will it succeed, let’s see.
