According to the rumour mill, OPPO is gearing up to unveil its third-generation Reno series device. The brand had launched the first-gen Reno earlier in March, while the Reno2 series was introduced in September. The former consists of two devices while the latter has three models in its lineup. While the Reno and Reno2 series are available internationally, the company’s Reno Ace announced last month has so far been limited to China. Now, details regarding the brand’s third-generation Reno device called the Reno 3 has surfaced online on Weibo.

The Reno 3 may come with a Snapdragon 735 chipset and quad rear cameras
Reno 3 specifications and features
The OPPO Reno 3 allegedly features a 6.5-inch display with full HD+ resolution. According to a past report, the device is expected to support a 90Hz refresh rate and is equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Like the previous generation Reno smartphones, this one too is expected to come with a similar design language.
The upcoming Reno 3 is rumoured to retain a quad-camera setup on the back. However, the primary camera is expected to be upgraded to a 64MP sensor. It will be accompanied by an 8MP, 16MP, and 2MP cameras. On the front, the Reno 3 may be fitted with an upgraded 32MP selfie snapper but it’s unclear whether the device will feature a shark-fin module like its predecessors.
On the hardware front, the OPPO Reno 3 is expected to be equipped with a Snapdragon 735 chipset. Compared to the Reno 2 that runs on Snapdragon 730G, this doesn’t seem like a major upgrade. The smartphone may pack up to 12GB RAM and offer up to 256GB of internal storage. The Reno 3 will be backed by a larger 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 30W VOOC 4.0 fast charging. The leak also suggests that the Reno 3 will be 5G compatible.
OPPO Reno 3 pricing and availability
The base variant of OPPO Reno 3 is rumored to carry a price tag of RMB 3,299 (~Rs 33,400) while the top-end model may be priced at RMB 3,599 (~Rs 36,400). Since Reno 3’s predecessor was launched just three months prior in India, we expect the smartphone to not arrive until late December or at the beginning of 2020.
In other news, the Reno Ace is expected to arrive in India as a rebranded OPPO Reno S (with a 64MP camera and 65W charging) in December.
