OPPO Reno 3 series 5G smartphones launching in China on December 26th

OPPO has been teasing the launch of its latest Reno series smartphones for a while now. The company has already given us a glimpse at the design of the upcoming OPPO Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro handsets ahead of the launch. In addition, the brand also revealed that the next-gen Reno series phones will flaunt support for 5G networks. Now, the Chinese tech giant has announced that it will be introducing the Reno 3 series handsets at an event in its home market on December 26th. Both of the smartphones will be mid-range offerings with a nearly bezel-less design, punch-hole displays, and in-display fingerprint sensors.

According to the rumour mill, the Reno 3 will feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000 5G processor, while the Reno 3 Pro is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chipset. The Reno 3 series handsets are rumoured to offer 6.5-inch full HD OLED curved displays with a screen refresh rate of 90Hz. The phones are said to offer up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Software-wise, the Reno 3 models could boot the latest version of the brand’s custom ROM i.e. ColorOS 7, which is based on Android 10.

The Reno 3 Pro is said to come with a 48MP primary camera on the back. The main shooter is expected to be accompanied by three more cameras – 8MP + 13MP + 2MP. The Reno 3 will also come with a quad-camera setup at the rear, but there’s no word regarding its camera specifications at the moment. Lastly, the Reno 3 Pro will have a 4,025mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. Unfortunately, not many details are available about the Reno 3 model’s specifications at the moment.

Design-wise, the OPPO Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro will flaunt a glass back panel and in-display fingerprint sensors. The quad-camera module of the devices will be placed vertically on the top-left corner. While the Reno 3 is said to offer a waterdrop notch above the screen, the Reno 3 Pro will offer a hole in the display to house the selfie camera.
