The OPPO Reno 8 Pro 5G is the most expensive Reno series phone from the brand. It is the first Reno model to sport a 120Hz AMOLED display and 80W fast charging. It comes with the most powerful Dimensity 8-series chip and packs a flagship-grade camera. Hence, it commands a price tag of Rs 45,999, which was exclusively tipped by Pricebaba last week. It comes in a single variant that offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It can be purchased in Glazed Black and Glazed Green colours.

The Reno 8 5G comes in three variants, such as 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. The variants with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at Rs 29,999. The price of other two variants is yet to be announced. It can be bought in Shimmer Black and Shimmer Gold colours.

The OPPO Reno 7 Pro 5G (review) is available in two variants, such as 8GB RAM + 128GB for Rs 28,999 and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage for Rs 39,999.  It comes in Startrails Blue and Starlight Black. All three devices are available for purchase through online platforms, such as OPPO India’s website, Flipkart, Reliance Digital, and Croma. These devices will also be available for purchase offline.

If price is not a concern, then the Reno 8 Pro 5G is the clear winner in this department. People with a lower budget may opt for Reno 7 Pro 5G or Reno 8 5G.

The Reno 8 Pro 5G has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a centrally positioned punch-hole. It offers a Full HD+ resolution, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and 10-bit colours. For people who prefer watching streaming content, the Reno 8 Pro 5G’s screen is certified for HDR10+, Amazon HDR, and Netflix HD.

The Reno 8 5G has a smaller 6.43-inch AMOLED display that delivers a Full HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, up to 120Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 800 nits. The Reno 7 Pro 5G has a 6.55-inch AMOLED FHD+ display, which offers the same features as the Reno 7 5G’s screen. All three phones come integrated with an in-screen fingerprint scanner and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The Reno 8 Pro 5G with support for a higher refresh rate and better colour reproduction, has a better edge over the Reno 8 and Reno 7 Pro. In addition, it also promises a better visual experience on streaming apps.

The OPPO Reno 8 Pro 5G is powered by the Dimensity-8100 Max, which offers a performance equipped with the Snapdragon 870. It promises enhanced performance thanks to LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The Reno 8 5G has the Dimensity 1300 chipset, whereas the Reno 7 Pro 5G is equipped with the Dimensity 1200 SoC. The D1200 is an older chip, which was announced in Q1 of 2021. On the other hand, the Dimensity 1300 was made official in April this year as the successor to the Dimensity 1200. Both phones offer LPDDR4x and UFS 3.1 storage. The Reno 8 series is equipped with an ultra-conductive graphite sheet for heat dissipation.

The OPPO Reno 8 Pro and Reno 8 run on the Android 12 OS, which is overlaid with ColorOS 12.1. On the other hand, the Reno 7 Pro 5G ships with Android 11 and ColorOS 12.1. It goes without saying that the Reno 8 Pro 5G promises better performance than the other two Reno smartphones.

The OPPO Reno 8 Pro 5G, Reno 8 5G, and Reno 7 Pro 5G are all fitted with a 32-megapixel Sony IMX709 sensor. Hence, these phones promise a similar selfie-snapping experience.

The Reno 8 Pro and Reno 8 5G’s rear camera setup has a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Both are blessed with a Sony IMX766 primary camera, which is usually seen on flagship smartphones. It is coupled with a Sony IMX355 ultra-wide lens.

The OPPO Reno 7 Pro 5G also feature a 50-megapixel (Sony IMX766) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit. What sets the Reno 8 Pro 5G apart from the Reno 8 and Reno 7 Pro is the inclusion of the MariSilicon X NPU image processing chip. It allows the Pro model to capture better videos and photos in low-light conditions.

This feature has been removed from the Reno 8 series.

The Reno 8 series supports 12 5G bands, while the Reno 7 Pro 5G supports 11 5G bands. These devices offer common features such as an IP53-rated splash-resistant body, dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.3 (Reno 8 series), Bluetooth 5.2 (Reno 7 Pro 5G), NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
