OPPO Reno and Reno 10x Zoom Edition with ‘Shark Fin’ pop-up selfie cameras launched: price, specifications

At an event in China, OPPO has announced the all new Reno series of smartphones that includes the OPPO Reno and OPPO Reno 10x Zoom phone. As the name goes, the Reno 10x Zoom can capture images with 10x hybrid zoom. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform and it comes with a marvelous notch-less design. The OPPO Reno is a lower-end edition of the 10x Zoom model, and is powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Specifications and Features

The OPPO Reno comes in multiple gradient colour choices and has a 3D glass and durable 7000-series aluminum alloy frame. It is fitted with a 6.6-inch AMOLED notch-less display with extremely slim bezels around it. The AMOLED screen offers full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and it is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 6. The display of the phone is embedded with an in-display fingerprint reader.

The “shark fin” shaped elevating camera module can pop-up in just 0.8 seconds. It features an LED flash and a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. The vertically stacked triple camera unit sits flush on the back panel of the device. It has an f/1.7 48-megapixel main sensor with OIS, 8-megapixel super wide-angle lens and 13-megapixel telephoto lens. The triple cameras are assisted by OPPO’s AI ultra-clear engine, dual LED flash and laser focus for capturing stunning photos in any lighting conditions.

ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie is loaded on the device. It features the company’s Breeno Assistant that can not only respond to voice commands, but also understand users’ habits for better assistance. The Game Boost 2.0 acceleration present on the phone is all about its increasing performance while gaming. For superior audio performance, the handset comes equipped with support for Dolby Atmos. The L1+L5 dual-frequency GPS technology on the device promises accurate location tracking experience. It also carries support for NFC connectivity.

The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform powers the phone with up to 8GB of RAM. For storage, it comes with up to 256GB memory and a microSD card slot. Lastly, the phone includes a 4,065mAh battery that is assisted by VOOC 3.0 fast charging through USB-C.

OPPO Reno Standard Edition Specifications and Features

The OPPO Reno standard edition borrows its design from the more powerful Reno 10x Zoom smartphone. It features a 6.4-inch AMOLED full HD+ display that is integrated with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The standard edition is fueled by the Snapdragon 710 chipset and it comes with a smaller 3,765mAh battery. The phone comes with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of native storage. It also features a microSD card slot.

A vertical dual camera setup with a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary sensor and 5-megapixel depth sensor resides on the rear side of the OPPO Reno. The shark fin module with a 16-megapixel selfie snapper and an LED flash is also available on the device. It also runs ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie.

OPPO Reno and Reno 10x Zoom Price and Availability

The OPPO Reno standard edition comes in three variants – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 256GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. These models are priced at 2,999 Yuan (~Rs 30,900), 3,299 Yuan (~Rs 33.990) and 3,599 Yuan (~Rs 37,100) respectively. It can be bought in colours like Fog Sea Green, Extreme Night Black, Nebula Purple and Pink Mist.

The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom edition comes in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 256GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variants. They are priced at 3,999 Yuan (~Rs 41,200), 4,499 Yuan (~Rs 46,350) and 4,799 Yuan (~Rs 49,450) respectively. The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom colour options include Fog Sea Green and Extreme Night Black.

OPPO also confirmed on the existence of 5G version of the OPPO Reno. It will be made available in China starting May.
