Expanding its series of innovative products, OPPO globally debuted the much-awaited Reno2 series in India. The successor to the previously launched Reno series, the Reno2 series is equipped with a rear quad camera setup. That’s not all, as the Reno2 series also bundles a powerful processor, big battery, large display and gorgeous design, all at a price point that’s highly attractive.
To find out everything there is to know about the new blockbusters from the brand, read on.
Versatile and innovative camera setup
There’s plenty to talk about regarding the cameras present on the OPPO Reno2. The rear camera setup includes a 48MP f/1.7 main lens, a 13MP telephoto lens, an 8MP ultra wide-angle lens and a 2MP mono lens. On the other hand, the Reno2z comprises of 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP rear quad cameras.
The Reno2 offers pristine image quality with its 20x digital zoom, which is preceded by 5x hybrid zoom. That will surely get you incredibly close to subjects at a distance. The 48MP main camera is also primed for clicking great photographs. Equipped with a Sony IMX586 sensor, it benefits from HIS, OIS and EIS support that work in tandem to offer super steady videos. This Ultra Steady Video feature is another aspect that renders this phone its versatility, as it is able to shoot stable and clear videos, no matter the shooting conditions. This phone has been equipped with an Ultra Dark Mode as well, for clicking amazing images even in a dark environment.
The 8MP wide-angle lens on the Reno2 offers a 116-degree field of view, opening the doors to some really diverse compositions, ideal for landscapes and scenery. Additionally, the Ultra Macro Mode lets you capture subjects in minute detail.
As for the 2MP portrait lens, it’s meant to simulate the effect of black and white pictures that also contribute towards more efficient colour capture in your photographs.
An updated portrait mode has been granted to the Reno2, which also applies to its 16MP front camera that’s assisted by a soft-light flash. The front and rear cameras can also record videos with a bokeh effect.
Another extremely unique proposition from the global smartphone giant is the app called Soloop. This app can intelligently select video templates and background music according to the geographical location, time and album content, and suggest special effects such as editing and transition of different rhythms. This lets you easily create vlogs with just your smartphone.
Panoramic screen, flawless design
The Reno2 carries forward the stunning design of its predecessor, including the Shark-fin rising front camera, panoramic display and a one-piece curved body. The rear surface is covered with Gorilla Glass 5, protecting it from scratches and scuffs. And then there’s the housing for the quad cameras, which uses nano-polishing and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to ensure it sits flush with the rear. Contributing to the phone’s aesthetics are the light, elegant, and borderless gradient colours it is offered in – Luminous Black and Ocean Blue.
Coming to the display, it’s a 6.55-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel on the Reno2 and a 6.53-inch AMOLED panel on the Reno2z with Gorilla Glass 6 protection. In order to achieve an almost bezel-less look, the company has hidden the front speakers inside openings that bridge the glass and shell casing, while the necessary sensors have been hidden underneath the glass. For low-light environments, the phone’s Eye Protection mode, which is certified by TUV Rhineland, reduces blue light, lowers the brightness and offers flicker-free viewing to reduce eyestrain. Hiding underneath the display of the Reno2 Series is the Hidden Fingerprint Unlock 3.0 with a fast 260ms response time.
Super-powered, for work and play
OPPO has equipped the Reno2 with the new Snapdragon 730G chipset and the Reno2z is powered by MediaTek Helio P90 chipset.
Built on the 8nm process, the Snapdragon 730G chipset is made up of 2.2GHz octa-core CPU and an Adreno 618 GPU, and is extremely power efficient as well. This setup is assisted by 8GB worth of RAM, plus 256GB of storage. Moreover, high-end games will run on this device with ease. The MediaTek Helio P90 chipset ensures enhanced processing power, enhanced AI performance, real-time bokeh and hardware image stabilization on the Reno2z.
