OPPO Reno2 to come with Snapdragon 730G, 8GB RAM and 4,000mAh battery

OPPO is set to unveil its second-generation Reno smartphone in India on August 28th, just a few days from now. Earlier, the company sent out media invites that revealed the presence of a quad rear camera setup on the upcoming device. The invite also mentions the word ‘Series’ hinting at a standard and Zoom edition just like the first generation Reno.

Now ahead of the launch, OPPO has confirmed key specs of the upcoming Reno2. It sports a 6.55-inch AMOLED display offering a 93.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. Corning Gorilla Glass 6 is layered on top for protection against scratches. The device retains the ‘shark fin’ pop up camera module and in-display fingerprint scanner with the latest G3 optical sensor. The back panel is said to be constructed from a single piece of 3D curved glass adorned with Gorilla Glass 5. The Reno2 will be available in two colour options – Ocean Blue and Luminous Black.

The upcoming Reno2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 730G octa-core processor. It will be paired with 8GB RAM and offer 256GB onboard storage. The processor will have a dedicated Neural Processing Engine (NPU) to capture images by utilising Ultra Dark mode and Bokeh mode. OPPO claims that the Reno2 will ensure a powerful and smooth gaming experience with Game Boost 2.0, Frame Boost 2.0 and Touch Boost 2.0. The Reno2 will come with True HDR gaming support as well. OPPO is also highlighting the Ultra Dark mode, Ultra Steady Video, and 20x zooming capabilities of the camera.

The Reno2 will draw its power from a 4,000mAh battery unit with support for VOOC flash charge 3.0 via Type-C. The Link Boost feature will help in utilising Wi-Fi and 4G networks simultaneously even when the Wi-Fi network signals are weak.

Specifications relating to the camera as well as pricing and availability of the upcoming Reno2 are not known at the moment. We will know more at the launch event on August 28th.
