The OPPO Reno3 Pro has been launched in India as the world’s first 44MP selfie camera phone. In total, the device houses six cameras on its body, offering users a ton of different ways to click photos and capture videos. This new phone is available for pre-order in India at Rs 29,990, a price which applies to its 128GB storage variant. A 256GB model has also been unveiled with a price tag of Rs 32,990, but it doesn’t have a definite release date yet. March 6th is when the 128GB variant will hit store shelves. Ahead of that, here are 5 reasons why we think buying the Reno3 Pro will be the right choice.
Premium, gradient design
The device takes the glass sandwich route when it comes to its body. The glass surfaces on the front and the back are held together by a metallic frame that gives you a premium feel while holding the phone. The handset is available in three colour options, namely, Sky White, Midnight Black and Auroral Blue, with all of them grabbing a subtle gradient on their rear surfaces. The back surface also houses a vertically stacked camera cluster housing the four rear snappers of this device. The Reno3 Pro ships with a headphone jack, and it also grabs a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansions.
Flipping the handset over reveals its gorgeous Super AMOLED display, which pushes the bezels to the absolute edges of the body. This panel holds a tiny pill-shaped hole-punch for housing the dual front cameras of this smartphone. Underneath the display is an optical fingerprint scanner equipped with OPPO’s Fingerprint Unlock 3.0 technology that allows you to unlock the device in merely 0.34 seconds. Despite so many advanced internal and external components, the Reno3 Pro still manages to be a thin and lightweight handset, boasting of an 8.1mm thickness and a 175gm weight.
Immersive full-screen display
The display on the front of this OPPO offering is a 6.4-inch E3 Super AMOLED panel. This guarantees vivid colours and great contrast levels, among many other things. The display grabs a 20:9 ratio and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. Another highly impressive aspect of this panel happens to be its ability to offer peak brightness levels of up to 500 nits. Moreover, in certain scenarios, the phone can even offer up to 800 nits of maximum brightness. This makes it incredibly easy to view content on the screen even under harsh sunlight. As for using the display in dark conditions, you can rest assured that your eyes will stay safe in the process, thanks to the Full Care Display Certification that has been granted to the panel by TÜV Rheinland.
The rear camera system onboard this phone is highlighted by a 64MP f/1.7 wide camera with PDAF support. Its Tetra cell and Smart WDR technologies are able to render enhanced details for both bright and dark areas of your photographs. Using some software magic, this 64MP camera can also capture 108MP Ultra Clear images that you can use to create posters as large as 4.3 x 3.2 meters in size. Or you can also zoom in and crop the image without losing much resolution, thus keeping its details intact. The Reno3 Pro also houses a 13MP telephoto camera and an 8MP ultra wide-angle camera, both of which combine with the main 64MP camera to offer support for 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom. The ultra wide-angle lens can moreover, also click 109-degree wide images.
The Reno3 Pro excels at lowlight photography thanks to its incorporation of OPPO’s Ultra Dark Mode. It uses the NPUs onboard the chipset to shorten imaging time, while multi-frame AI noise reduction helps remove grain even from photographs clicked in extremely dark environments. This phone’s fourth camera is a 2MP monochrome sensor that not just helps improve contrast in your photographs, but also doubles up as a macro camera for capturing extreme close-up shots of your subjects.
Coming to videos, the Reno3 Pro shines there as well. It has been equipped with the new Ultra Steady Video 2.0 tech, which uses the phone’s ultra wide-angle lens to remove shakes from your footage and render smooth clips even in bumpy environments. This OPPO phone is home to a few cinema-quality features as well, like support for video bokeh, AI beautification as well as a strong video zoom functionality. And as if that wasn’t enough, the Soloop editor will look to be your companion on this phone, letting you edit videos to automatically match the rhythm of the selected music. Moreover, it also includes various transition effects and other goodies needed to make spectacular video montages for posting on social media.
The Reno3 Pro happens to be the world’s first phone with a 44MP dual front camera. The second snapper is a 2MP depth sensor meant for adding bokeh to your selfies. With this setup, you can capture amazing high-resolution selfies that are sharp and ready to be instantly shared on Instagram and other platforms. The front camera also gets the Ultra Night Mode that helps you capture the perfect night selfies.
All-day battery life
Inside the OPPO Reno3 Pro rests a 4,025mAh battery that should last you an entire day. But even if you do run out of juice, its VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 feature will ensure that your phone will be up and running in no time. Thanks to its 30W fast charging capability, this cell is able to go from 0 to 50 percent in 20 minutes, while it takes just 56 minutes to charge fully.
MediaTek’s brand-new Helio P95 chipset is at the heart of this OPPO handset. This 12nm SoC plays home to dual Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz. That’s quite some power for the components of take advantage of. Additionally, a PowerVR GM9446 GPU has also been added into the mix for rendering exquisite graphics. Complementing this setup is 8GB worth of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS2.1 storage. A multi-cooling system can be found inside the device, for dissipating the heat generated during high-intensity tasks.
As for the phone’s software, it’s ColorOS 7 based on Android 10. It comes with a performance-focused Hyper Boost mode that helps stabilize your frame-rates when you’re playing high-end games.
