Earlier today, OPPO confirmed that it will be holding a launch event at 12.30pm on January 18th to announce the Reno5 Pro 5G smartphone in India. The Dimensity 1000+ powered handset had already launched in China last month. There have been speculations that the phone could launch with a different chipset outside China. However, today MediaTek officially confirmed that the Reno5 Pro 5G will be India’s phone to feature the Dimensity 1000+ chip.

The Dimensity-line by MediaTek includes 5G-ready chipsets such as the Dimensity 700, Dimensity 720, Dimensity 800, Dimensity 800U, Dimensity 820, and Dimensity 1000+. These chipsets are designed to power 5G smartphones across different price points. As the name suggests, the 7nm Dimensity 1000+ is the most powerful mobile chipset by MediaTek at present.

OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G will be India’s first Dimensity 1000+ smartphone

The 7nm Dimensity 1000+ SoC includes 4 x ARM Cortex-A76 CPU working at 2.6GHz, 4x ARM Cortex-A55 CPU working at 2GHz, and ARM Mali-G75 MC5 graphics. It also includes supports for LPPDR4x RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.1. Realme is also expected to launch the Dimensity 1000+ powered Realme X7 Pro 5G in India this month. Considering that the Reno5 Pro 5G will be launching on January 18th, the X7 Pro may go official by the end of the month.

OPPO Reno5 Pro specifications and features

The OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G features a 6.55-inch AMOLED display that offers full HD+ resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Dimensity 1000+ SoC is equipped with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of internal storage

The phone runs ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11. It houses a 32-megpaixel front camera and a quad-camera system featuring a 64-megapixel main shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-megaaixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The phone features 65W fast charging support for its 4,350mAh battery.
