The OPPO Reno5 5G series has been launched in China. The lineup includes two smartphones – Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G. These phones have arrived as successors to the Reno4 5G and Reno4 Pro 5G that debuted earlier this year in OPPO’s home market.

Like the predecessor Reno4 5G and Reno3 phones, the Reno5 5G smartphones sport marvellous rear shells with a unique diamond-cut design, which is dubbed as the Reno Glow 2.0. The Reno5 5G comes with features such as tall aspect ratio displays with punch-hole design, large-sized batteries with 65W fast charging support, and top-notch photography capabilities.

The OPPO Reno5 5G has a flat 6.43-inch OLED screen, whereas the Reno5 Pro 5G has a bigger 6.55-inch OLED display with curved edges. Both phones support a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The Reno5 duo offer around 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. These phones have in-screen fingerprint readers.
The Snapdragon 765G powers the Reno5 5G, whereas the Dimensity 1000+ SoC fuels the Reno5 Pro 5G variant. The Reno5 duo is equipped with LPPDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage but they lack support for external storage.
The Reno5 and Reno5 Pro are fitted with 32-megapixel front-facing cameras. The back panel of the Reno5 and Reno5 Pro feature an identical quad-camera setup that includes a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel primary lens with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth helper. The Reno5 5G series offers users with full-dimensional fusion (FDF) portrait video technology that assists in seamlessly shooting portrait videos. These phones offer other photography features like night scene mode, EIS, 30fps 4K video shooting, and 1080p slow-motion video recording at 120fps.
The Reno5 5G has a 4,300mAh battery, whereas the Reno5 Pro 5G offers a slightly larger 4,350mAh battery. Both smartphones support 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 rapid charging technology. These phones are preinstalled with ColorOS 11.1 based Android 11 OS. They are equipped with common specs like dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Pro model also supports Wi-Fi 6 and NFC.
OPPO Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G pricing and availability
The Reno5 5G comes in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. These variants are priced at RMB 2,699 (~Rs 30,400) and RMB 2,999 (~Rs 33,800) respectively in China. On the other side, the Reno5 Pro 5G is priced at RMB 3,399 (~Rs 38,300) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model and RMB 3,799 (~Rs 42,800) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. The sales of the Reno5 5G and Pro model will begin on December 18th in the home market. Both smartphones come in colours like Moonlight Night Black, Aurora Blue, and Starry Dream. The Pro model comes in an additional colour of Wish Red.
The company will sell a special edition phone called the Reno5 Pro 5G New Year Edition with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage from December 29th. It will be priced at RMB 3,399 (~Rs 38,300). The brand also confirmed that it will be launching the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform powered Reno5 Pro+ 5G on December 24th in China. While the Reno5 series is expected to arrive in other markets including India, the flagship model is unlikely to release outside China.
