OPPO Smart TV to launch in October, likely to arrive in 55-inch and 65-inch variants

Yesterday, OPPO held the 2020 OPPO Developers Conference in China. At the event, the company unveiled a couple of new products such as ColorOS 11 and the OPPO Watch ECG edition. The brand also confirmed that it will be launching its first smart TV dubbed as the OPPO TV in October.

OPPO did not reveal any details on the features of the OPPO TV and its launch date is also under wraps. The company has been teasing the arrival of the OPPO TV since December 2019. Information that has surfaced through certification websites have suggested that the OPPO TV could be arriving in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes.

At ODC 2020, OPPO confirmed the OPPO TV launch in October

Earlier this month, the 55-inch and 65-inch editions of the OPPO TV were spotted on China’s 3C certification platform. The 3C certification also revealed there are as many as 10 variants for each of the two TV models.

The listing revealed that the OPPO TV will be manufacturer by TPV Display Technology (Xiamen) Co. Ltd, which is the parent company of TV divisions of brands like AOC, Phillips, and Envision. In related news, the Bluetooth SIG authority approved two OPPO branded TV remote controls with model numbers RC-001D and BRC-004A.

ColorOS 11 and OPPO Watch ECG edition announced

The ColorOS 11 that succeeds ColorOS 7.2 comes with new UI customisations along with AOD (Always-On Display) styles, three-finger translate function in screenshots, FlexDrop multi-window feature for multi-tasking, performance and battery life enhancements, and more. OPPO has already rolled out the ColorOS 11 Beta edition in multiple markets including India.

The OPPO Watch ECG edition is a modified version of the 46mm OPPO Watch with stainless-steel body that went official earlier this year in China. As the name goes, it comes with a new ECG (electrocardiogram) tracking functionality. The device is priced at RMB 2,499 (~Rs 27,000). There is no word on its availability outside of China.
