OPPO’s first smartwatch will closely resemble the Apple Watch, official image reveals

A few days ago, we reported that smartphone maker OPPO is set to announce its first smartwatch in Q1 2020. Now the company’s VP Brian Shen has shared an official photo confirming the arrival of the wearable device. The teaser gives us a first look at the upcoming smartwatch. Shen revealed that the OPPO smartwatch will sport a flexible display with a curved design. He further added that it could be the best-looking smartwatch this year. Apart from the official teaser, OPPO has not revealed any other details of its upcoming smartwatch.

Going by the teaser image, the OPPO smartwatch closely resembles the Apple Watch in terms of design. The device comes with a gold casing and two physical buttons on the side instead of a digital crown found on the Apple Watch. If you take a closer look, you can spot a notification light on one of the buttons. A microphone is also visible between the buttons hinting at an LTE variant for voice calls. There could also be a 5G version of the smartwatch. The teaser image reveals the upcoming smartwatch has a silicone strap like most smartwatches, however, we also expect it to be available in leather, stainless steel and more.

As per the previous report, the OPPO smartwatch is rumoured to come with an ECG function. It will allow users to detect if their heart has abnormalities or irregular rhythms.

At INNO DAY last month, OPPO had confirmed its plans of launching smartwatches in the first quarter of 2020. Going by the leaks and rumours, we expect it to launch very soon or at least by MWC 2020 where the brand is expected to unveil the Find X2 smartphone.
