OPPO to eliminate creasing issues on upcoming Find N foldables, claims Pete Lau

  • OPPO is working on new foldable phones
  • OPPO CPO revealed that company its next foldables will not have display creasing issues
  • The new OPPO foldables are expected within this year

OPPO is reportedly working on new foldable phones. Before the end of this year, the company may announce a new foldable phone as a successor to the OPPO Find N, which debuted last year as its first-ever foldable phone. In addition, the company is also said to be working on a clamshell device.

Since the introduction of foldable phones, the creasing issue has put off many would-be buyers. OPPO’s Chief Product Officer, Pete Lau, took to Weibo to share some information about the displays of the upcoming foldable phones. Unfortunately, he did not share any information on the specifications of the rumoured Find N2 or its first flip phone.

Upcoming OPPO Find N foldable phones won’t have crease

Samsung and Huawei both released their first-generation foldable phones in 2019. Other mainstream brands such as Motorola, Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO have also entered the foldable market. While the companies are working hard to get rid of the creasing issue on the foldable screen, the problem has not been eliminated completely. Reports say that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, which debuted earlier this month, have a problem with their inner screens creasing where they fold.

Pete Lau said that the creasing issues are definitely not a problem on the next-generation foldable flagship. It is unclear whether he is talking about the alleged Find N2 or the rumoured clamshell phone, or both devices. Recently, the OPPO Find N Fold and Find N Flip monikers were found listed on the EUIPO trademark. These names may belong to the upcoming OPPO foldables.

Lau said that the company is committed to making its devices more sustainable. He added that the company is now involved in processes like hardware selection, technical planning, and product discussion to provide users with a better experience. OPPO is paying attention to issues, such as display power consumption, display quality, display consistency, and changes in the app ecosystem.
