OPPO is tipped to launch its first smart television in India, according to a new report from 91Mobiles citing tipster Mukul Sharma. The Chinese brand entered the smart TV segment in its home country last year.
Other BBK Electronics-owned brands like Realme and OnePlus have launched their respective smart TVs in India. They compete against the likes of Xiaomi, Nokia, Motorola, LG, Samsung, and other TV brands in the country. Now, OPPO is set to join the fray as well. In China, OPPO offers the S1, R1, and K9 series as part of its smart TV lineup.
OPPO to soon launch smart TVs in India
The report by 91Mobiles states that OPPO is planning to launch its first television in the country early next year. It is expected to debut in Q1 2022 meaning by the end of March. However, it remains to be seen if OPPO will bring the Chinese variants of its televisions to India or introduce a whole new lineup in the country.
Apart from the latest report, Economic Times had reported last October that OPPO is planning to launch its smart TVs in India. A spokesperson from the company had said to the publication ‘India is one of the key markets for us and we are constantly working towards introducing new affordable products which are essential for Indian consumers. We are accelerating into the era of the Internet of Things by actively expanding a richer IoT product portfolio.”
As far as specifications are concerned, the OPPO televisions in China pack premium specifications like 4K UHD displays, high refresh rate, HDR10+ support, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, and more. It will be interesting to see how OPPO TVs will compete in the Indian market.
