Alongside the launch of the Reno4 Pro smartphone, OPPO has also debuted its first smartwatch in India. The OPPO Watch was announced in China earlier in March this year. The wearable device is similar to the Apple Watch in terms of design.
Some of the key highlights of the OPPO Watch include a dual-curved AMOLED display, VOOC charging and dual-chip system. However, the smartwatch lacks an electrocardiogram sensor (ECG) that is found on China variant. Let’s find out more about the smartwatch below.
OPPO Watch specifications and features
The OPPO Watch is available in 41mm and 46mm sizes. The former features a 1.6-inch rigid AMOLED screen while latter comes with a flexible dual-curved 1.91-inch display. The smartwatch offers a 326ppi pixel density, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut and screen brightness up to 1000 nits. The OPPO Watch is equipped with a 6-series aluminium alloy frame and is water-resistant up to 5ATM. On the side, there is a home button and a multi-functional button with an integrated notification light.
On the hardware side, the OPPO Watch is powered by a dual-chip endurance system that switches between two processors depending on the power usage mode and maximising battery life. The system comprises a Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC and an Ambiq Apollo3 chip. The smartwatch packs 1GB RAM and offers 8GB onboard storage.
As for health-centric features, the OPPO Watch comes with heart-rate monitoring and sleep management. It also offers health tips like get-up reminders and stress-relief breathing exercises. The smartwatch supports various workout and exercise modes like fitness run, fat burn run, outdoor cycling, swimming etc. In swimming workout mode, the watch’s display becomes unresponsive to touch by automatically entering Aqua mode. The OPPO Watch features a GPS+GLONASS navigation system that is capable of accurately tracking the user’s route and other metrics. It also comes with WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.
The OPPO Watch runs Google’s WearOS with a custom UI on the top. It comes with features like a notification display, messaging, incoming calls, music streaming and NFC payment support. It also features Google Assistant onboard. The OPPO Watch is backed by a 430mAh battery unit with support for VOOC fast charging. It is claimed to deliver up to 36 hours of usage in normal mode and up to 21 days in power saving mode. OPPO claims that the charging tech is capable of topping up the battery to full in 75 minutes.
OPPO Watch price in India
The OPPO Watch carries a price tag of Rs 19,990 for the 46mm variant while the 41mm model will retail at Rs 14,990. The former is offered in Black and Glossy Gold colours while the latter can be availed in Black, Pink Gold and Silver Mist colour options. The wearable device is up for pre-orders with sales commencing from August 20th.
