Alongside the launch of the flagship Find X2 series, OPPO has also unveiled its first smartwatch. Prior to launch, the OPPO Watch was teased plenty of times giving us a glimpse of the device. The OPPO Watch draws close inspiration from the Apple Watch in terms of design and features. The wearable device packs health and convenience-centric features. Let’s find out what the smartwatch offers out of the box.
OPPO Watch specifications and features
Starting with the display, the OPPO Watch has been launched in 41mm and 46mm variants. The former offers a 1.6-inch screen while the latter has a 1.9-inch display featuring a square dial. The device is fitted with an OLED panel and offers a pixel density of 326ppi and 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut. Design-wise, the OPPO Watch has two physical buttons on the side, one of which is also integrated with a notification light. The smartwatch is water-resistant up to 50 meters. The 41mm variant is available in Elegant Black, Gold Powder and Silver Matte colours, while the 46mm can be availed in Yao Black and Sulfer Gold.
The OPPO Watch is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2500 chipset along with an Apollo 3 co-processor. Depending on the power usage mode and maximise battery life, the watch can switch between the two processors. The SoC is paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage. The OPPO Watch is equipped with a heart rate monitor and electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor. The latter is capable of spotting signs of atrial fibrillation. The wearable device offers sleep tracking, breathing reminders and monthly menstrual cycle monitoring. It supports a range of physical exercises as well.
The OPPO Watch runs Google’s WearOS with the brand’s own ColorOS on top. It supports a variety of third-party apps. Like most smartwatches, this one too offers notifications, music controls and more. In terms of connectivity, the device supports eSIM and a speakerphone, letting users make and receive calls without a smartphone. It also comes with Bluetooth 4.2, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi. The OPPO Watch 41mm and 46mm variants are backed by a 300mAh and 430mAh batteries respectively. The watch supports VOOC charging that is said to deliver 50 percent of the battery in 17 minutes. The brand claims that the 46mm variant is capable of offering 40 hours of usage in normal mode and 21 days on a single charge in power saving mode. On the other hand, the 41mm option lasts for 21 hours and 14 days respectively.
OPPO Watch pricing and availability
The OPPO Watch will go up for pre-order in China later today with sales commencing from March 24th. The 41mm variant is priced at RMB 1,499 (~Rs 16,000) while the 46mm model costs RMB 1,999 (~Rs 21,300). OPPO says that the Watch Series will be available globally, so we expect it to debut in India in the coming weeks.
