Similar to concept cars, it’s worth noting that OPPO’s devices may not ever see the light of the day. However one can expect the features and tech showcased to be incorporated into future smartphones that consumers can buy. Let’s take a look at the devices below.

OPPO X 2021 rollable smartphone

OPPO X 2021

The OPPO X 2021 is the world’s first rollable smartphone with an extending display. The device features a variable rollable OLED screen that can be expanded from 6.7-inches to 7.4-inches. This converts it from its native rectangular form factor to a phablet device.

The OPPO X 2021 is equipped with three proprietary technologies. A 6.8mm Roll Motor powertrain is used to extend the OLED screen while the 2-in-1 built behind the rollable display ensures durability and support structure when the display is contracted or extended. Lastly, the Warp Track high strength screen laminate provides additional protection to the display.

Apart from showcasing the rollable display, OPPO hasn’t shared any details regarding the X 2021’s hardware. OPPO VP, Levin Liu added that he hopes to bring rollable display technology to consumers at the right time.

OPPO AR Glass 2021 and CybeReal AR

OPPO AR Glass 2021

OPPO’s second-generation AR smart glasses are more compact and 75 percent lighter than their predecessor. They are equipped with Birdbath optical technology for an immersive experience. The AR Glass 2021 offers increased contrasts, brightness and pixels per degree compared to last year’s model.

The OPPO AR Glass 2021 features a 0.71-inch OLED display and a large-amplitude speaker. The device is equipped with a stereo fisheye camera, one ToF sensor and one RGB camera for capturing the environment, local mapping and 3D positioning. Users can interact with the glasses from a paired smartphone. They can also track hand movements for easier operation. The OPPO AR Glass 2021 can be connected to a smartphone via a USB-C to USB-C port.

As for the OPPO CybeReal AR, the application is powered by real-time spatial calculation technology. It is based on the digital model of the physical world and offers highly accurate real-time positioning using GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and network information.
