Panasonic has launched the LUMIX S5II, a hybrid full-frame mirrorless camera, in India. The new LUMIX S5II features a new Phase Hybrid autofocus system and a robust image stabilization system, enhancing photo/video performance. Let’s take a closer look at Panasonic’s latest offerings.
Panasonic LUMIX S5II Features and Specifications
The LUMIX S5II features a newly developed 24-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor that complies with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus). It also comes with Dual Native ISO sensitivity, which minimizes noise generation by choosing an optimal circuit according to the sensitivity before gain processing.
It provides 779-area metering, and the size of the A.F. area can be selected from smaller size options. Continuous A.F. during zooming*1, A.F. micro adjustments are also available. The camera can have higher speed burst shooting at 9 (A.F.S.) fps with a mechanical shutter, and 30 fps (AFS/AFC) with an electronic shutter in JPEG/RAW compared.
Furthermore, the LUMIX S5II equips a powerful image stabilization system. Combining the Body I.S. (5-axis) in the camera and the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) in the LUMIX S Series lens, the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 the correction power is maximized to allow 6.5-stop slower shutter speed*2 The 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works for both photo and video recording, including 4K.
Regarding video capabilities, the LUMIX S5II provides 4:2:0 10-bit 6K (17:9 or 3:2) / 5.9K (16:9), unlimited 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K recording capability. The camera also comes with a heat-dispersion mechanism which allows it to record videos without worrying about overheating. HFR (High Frame Rate) in C4K/4K (48p), FHD (120p), Slow & Quick motion in C4K/4K(1-60fps) / FHD(1-180fps) are also available.
The LUMIX S5II is equipped with a large, 3,680K-dot OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) L.V.F. (Live View Finder) features a high magnification ratio of approx. 1.52x / 0.76x (35mm camera equivalent) and a 3.0-inch free-angle touch-control monitor in 3:2 aspect with 1,840K-dot high resolution.
