Paytm pulled from Play Store for policy violations

According to the official blog posted by the Mountain View giant, any app that leads users to external websites for participating in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes is in violation of its policies. Google also stated that when an app is found violating this policy, the developers are informed about the same to bring the app into compliance with the policies. However, in this case, Paytm appears to have repeatedly violated Google policies. Google also states that in such cases, it may take serious actions including the termination of Google Play Developer accounts. Meanwhile, Paytm has tweeted confirming the removal of its app from the Play Store. However, the company assured that the app will be back very soon, hinting that it’s working on being compliant with the policies. In related news, a TechCrunch report citing a person familiar with the matter states that Google has also issued a notice to the popular OTT service provider, Disney+ Hotstar. According to the report, the on-demand video streaming service has been asked to display a warning message before showing ads for fantasy sports apps. As of now, Paytm is available on the Apple App Store and is working for those who already have it installed.
