Pixel 2 & Pixel XL 2: Google Billboard Hints at October 4th Launch

It was earlier reported that Google’s upcoming Pixel 2 launch event might happen on October 5th. However, a billboard spotted in Boston hints that Google’s event will take place on October 4th. The board just has a single tagline that says, “Ask more of your phone.” Just below that, Google’s logo and the date ‘Oct 4’ can be seen. This is indicative of the fact that the event scheduled for October 4th will be for a phone i.e. Pixel 2.

Co-incidentally, the Google Pixel was launched on the same date last year. So it won’t be surprising if they launch the successor to that phone on the same date. Every year, Google holds an event in the last quarter of the year and the same trend is followed. After the launch of new iPhones just a few days back, Google’s Pixel 2 is the only major launch left before the year comes to end.

Just to sum up what we know so far about the Pixel 2, few renders have indicated that the phone might miss out on the headphone jack, similar to the iPhones. Even the bezels will be slimmed down to offer a larger display inside a smaller body. Similar to last year, there might be two variants of the Pixel – Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Previous renders show that while the smaller variant will have a similar design, the bigger one might boast of a new design theme.

Google is yet to confirm the October 4th event date for Pixel 2 but going by the billboard and other factors mentioned above, this might be the final date. What are your expectations from the upcoming Pixel? Let us know in the comments below.
