POCO has launched its most affordable smartphone, the POCO C3 in India and it marks the debut of the entry-level C-series. The brand has positioned the latest device under Rs 10,000 in India, just below the POCO M2 Pro and POCO M2 budget handsets. With this launch, POCO is targetting affordable smartphones from the likes of Xiaomi and Realme in the country.

The POCO C3 starts at Rs 7,499 in India and will go up against the likes of Redmi 9 and Realme C12 (review). The Redmi 9 shares many similarities with the POCO C3, whereas the Realme C12 features a massive 6,000mAh battery as its highlight. Let’s find out how these three entry-level devices fare against each other.
POCO C3 vs Redmi 9 vs Realme C12: price in India
The POCO C3 is offered in two configurations – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. The former has been priced at Rs 7,499 and the latter retails at Rs 8,999. The phone is available in Arctic Blue, Lime Green, and Matte Black colours. It will go on sale in India starting October 16th on Flipkart.
The Redmi 9 is also available in two configurations – 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB – with prices set at Rs 8,999 and Rs 9,999, respectively. The smartphone can be picked in Sporty Orange, Sky Blue and Carbon Black colours. It’s available from Amazon, mi.com, Mi Studio and offline retail partners.
The Realme C12 is being offered in a single 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and is priced at Rs 8,999. The smartphone is available on Flipkart and Realme India’s website. Realme is offering Power Blue and Power Silver colours of the C12.

In this aspect, the POCO C3, Redmi 9 and Realme C12 are all similar. These smartphones are equipped with 6.5-inch LCD displays with a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels and waterdrop notch. The POCO C3 has a layer of Panda Glass screen protection, whereas the Realme C12 has Corning Gorilla Glass. The Redmi 9 misses out on any kind of screen protection.
The Redmi 9 and POCO C3 have 82 percent and 81.1 percent screen-to-body ratios, respectively. The Realme C12, on the other hand, features an 88.7 percent screen-to-body ratio, which indicates slimmer bezels than the other two and a more immersive viewing experience.

Starting with the new launch, the POCO C3 is powered by the gaming-focused budget Helio G35 chipset. This is also the same processor that is under the hood of the other two devices in the contention. This means that the matter boils down to the configurations being offered by each smartphone.
The Realme C12 is the only smartphone here being offered in a single variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The Redmi 9 and POCO C3 are available in two configurations but with varying RAM and storage. The POCO C3 is available in 3GB and 4GB model with 32GB and 64GB storage, respectively. The Redmi offering, on the other hand, features 4GB RAM in both models and higher 64GB and 128GB storage.
Coming to the software, the POCO C3 boots MIUI 12 based on Android 10 with POCO Launcher on top. The Redmi 9 also boots the MIUI 12 based on Android, sans the POCO Launcher. Lastly, the Realme C12 features Realme UI based on Android 10.

The POCO C3, Realme C12, and Redmi 9 have a square-shaped camera module in the top left corner on the rear panel. The first two are equipped with a triple camera setup, whereas the Redmi 9 features a dual-camera module. All three phones have a 13-megapixel primary lens and 2-megapixel depth sensor. The POCO and Realme smartphones get an additional 2-megapixel macro lens.
On the front, the POCO C3, Redmi 9 and Realme C12 feature a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
