The upcoming POCO F2 and POCO F2 Pro have been doing the rounds for months now. The latter is widely expected to be a re-branded Redmi K30 Pro for global markets. Recently, a new device called the POCO M2 Pro was spotted on the RF exposure page of Xiaomi’s website in India, which could be the next offering from the brand in the country.
Now, the company sent out a media invite for an upcoming POCO launch event in Spain to be held on May 12th. POCO has gone ahead and announced that it will be an online event, and also confirmed the POCO F2 Pro moniker.

While the POCO F2 Pro was a rumoured device earlier, the company has now officially tweeted the name of the smartphone. POCO has confirmed that the POCO F2 Pro will be launched on May 12th, and streamed via official Xiaomi Twitter, Facebook and YouTube handles. In India, the stream will be broadcasted at 5.30pm IST.
The tweet reveals the tagline of the upcoming device to be “Powerfully cool.” This hints at powerful specifications and effective cooling technology in place. This might be a hint towards the POCO F2 Pro being the re-branded Redmi K30 Pro, which comes with the largest vapour cooling chamber on a smartphone till date. The chamber on the Redmi K30 Pro measures 3,435 square megameters and is accompanied by a large heat transfer area along with a heat conductive sticker.
POCO F2 Pro specifications and features
If the POCO F2 Pro is indeed a re-branded Redmi K30 Pro, it will ship with an 6.67-inch S-AMOLED display with full HD+ screen resolution. Other display features include a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, DC dimming, blue-ray filter, HDR10+, an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a screen-to-body ratio of 92.7 percent. Driving the performance of the handset will be the Snapdragon 865 SoC with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The POCO F2 Pro will be powered by 4,700mAh battery with 33W fast charging. It will boot Android 10 out of the box.
In the optics department, the phone will feature a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary shooter, a 123-degree 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, an industry first 50mm macro lens and a 2-megapixel portrait lens. For selfies, there will be an elevating 20-megapixel snapper.
A recent leak had revealed that the POCO F2 Pro will be offered in four colour options, namely White, Purple, Grey, and Blue. These are the same colours that Redmi K30 Pro offers in China, further confirming that POCO F2 Pro is the global re-badged model. The same report also confirmed that the POCO F2 Pro with 12GB RAM will retail at €570 (~Rs 47,000).
