“POCO F2 specifications revealed by the Geekbench listing include Android 9 Pie, Snapdragon 845, and 6GB of RAM”
POCO India’s general manager, C Manmohan, recently took to Twitter saying that a new smartphone by the brand is in the works. While new product turned out to be just the Armoured Edition for the existing POCO F1 128GB variant, there is no doubt a successor the popular POCO F1 (review) smartphone is already in works. While there is no official name for the handset yet, it’s likely the company will stick to the established naming pattern, thus the model may be named POCO F2. While the details regarding POCO F2 were scarce, the handset has now been spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench, revealing several key details.
The Geekbench listing, first spotted by Nashville Chatterclass, reveals that the upcoming POCO F2 will come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, same as its predecessor. The variant listed on the benchmarking website is seen sporting 6GB of RAM, however, we can expect more variants when it’s launched. Further, the POCO F2 can be seen with Android 9 Pie as opposed to the Android Oreo that POCO F1 ran on out-of-the-box. The new smartphone managed to score 2,321 on single core test and 7,564 on multi-core, which is expected from a Snapdragon 845 device.
What comes as a surprise that apart from the latest software, the POCO F2 seems to be rocking the same specs as its predecessor. So what’s new? It’s being speculated that the brand will likely update the display on the upcoming smartphone as well as the camera setup. We can see the waterdrop notch finding its way to the next-generation POCO device with a higher screen-to-body ratio. Further, we may see an improvement over POCO F1’s 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel rear camera setup and 20-megapixel selfie snapper. According to the rumours, the POCO F2 might come with a triple camera module, however, we suggest taking this bit of information with a pinch of salt.
POCO is expected to launch the second-generation smartphone some time in 2019, though the exact timeline is not known. We will bring your more updates when something turns up, so stay tuned.
