The F3 GT will be the company’s second F-series for India after the POCO F1, which debuted back in 2018. With Dimensity 1200 chipset onboard, it will be rivalling the likes of the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2 5G and Realme X7 Max 5G. Reports have claimed that the F3 GT will be a rebranded version of Redmi K40 Gaming Edition smartphone that debuted a few months back in China.

In an interview with India Today Tech, Sharma revealed that the POCO F3 GT will be an aggressively priced device in India. He suggested that the device will be priced around Rs 30,000, and he further said that all its variants will cost under Rs 35,000. It will be available in Gunmetal Silver and Predator Black colours. This handset will not be available in the iconic yellow colour of the brand.

Anju added, “The smartphone market has changed a lot in last three years. We could have done a simple F1 successor which means cut out everything else and give performance. But, in the mid-premium segment users are not happy with one aspect. Things like the build quality, glass back are all expensive. This would make the Poco F3 GT a lot more expensive than Poco F1 but at the price, will be unlike any other phone.”

The POCO F1 was the cheapest flagship of its time, priced at just Rs 21,000. Since the industry has been affected by the ongoing pandemic and the component prices have shot in the past 18 months, it is not possible to launch an F-series phone with similar pricing as the F1.

Speaking about the pricing of F3 GT, Sharma said, “Things have moved so fast that if we want to do exactly the same phone as Poco X3 Pro with same components, it won’t be possible to price it under Rs 20,000. So, I don’t want to set high expectations by saying that Poco F3 GT would come at a crazy price but, it is going to be a unique product which will find its own segment.”

POCO F3 GT specifications and features (expected)

The POCO F3 GT could sport a 6.67-inch OLED FHD+ display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The Dimensity 1200-powered handset may come with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It may house a 5,065mAh battery and support 67W rapid charging.

It may feature a 16MP selfie camera, and its rear shell may include a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. For gamers, it will come equipped with gaming trigger buttons and RGB lighting around the rear cameras. For security, it may come equipped with a side-facing fingerprint scanner. As far as design is concerned, it will come with a 7000-series aluminium frame with glass panels on front and rear sides.
