- POCO India has started the release of a new phone
- It may break cover this month (November)
- It could be a rebranded Redmi Note 12 5G or POCO C50
POCO will launch a new phone in India, reveals a tweet released by the company’s Twitter account. While there is no confirmation yet, it appears that the device may launch as early as this month. Recently, a POCO phone with model number 211317PI was seen in the IMEI database.
The IMEI database listing did not reveal the marketing name of the device. However, the “2211” digits in the model number hint that the phone will launch this month in India. The model number of the device is similar to the 22101317C, which belongs to the Redmi Note 12 5G, which debuted in October in China. Hence, there is a possibility that the upcoming POCO phone could be a rebranded version of the Note 12.

The Redmi Note 12 5G, which is currently only available in China, has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset powers the device with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The device runs on the Android 13 OS and MIUI 13.
The Note 12 has an 8-megapixel front camera and a 48-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (depth) dual-camera setup. It houses a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
POCO has recently launched the POCO M5 4G in India. The above specifications seem good enough for an entry-level 5G phone. Hence, there is a possibility that the Note 12 5G may get rebranded as the POCO M5 5G in India.

There is a possibility that the company may not launch an M-series phone. Around three months ago, the POCO C50 phone with model number 220733SPI was spotted in the IMEI directory. The model number of the device suggests that it could be a rebranded version of the Redmi A1+, which is already available in India for Rs 7,499.
The Redmi A1 Plus has a 6.52-inch IPS LCD HD+ display, an Helio A22 chip, 2 GB / 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging, Android 12 (Go edition), and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. It has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash.
