Yesterday, Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO launched the POCO X3 NFC in global markets. Back in July, the brand had announced the POCO M2 Pro in India as the rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro. Now, POCO has announced a toned-down version of the M2 Pro, dubbed as the POCO M2.

The POCO M2 is also the cheapest smartphone from the Xiaomi sub-brand. Prior to launch, the company has been teasing a few specifications of the smartphone. The POCO M2 will compete against the recently launched Redmi 9 Prime and Realme C15 in India. Let’s take a look at what the device has in store for us.
POCO M2 specifications and features
The POCO M2 is the cheapest offering from the brand.
The POCO M2 features a 6.53-inch waterdrop display bearing FHD+ resolution. It is equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The back panel also houses a vertically-aligned camera module in the centre which is similar to the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The smartphone features P2i splash and dust resistant nano-coating. The POCO M2 can be availed in three colour options – Slate Blue, Pitch Black and Brick Red.
The POCO M2 sports quad-camera setup comprising a 13MP main sensor accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. The smartphone has an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.
Internally, the POCO M2 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G80 processor. It is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. There is a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage expansion up to 512GB. The device features HyperEngine game technology for smoother gaming performance.
The smartphone draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging, but ships with 10W charger in the box. The POCO M2 runs the Android 10-based MIUI 11 on the top.
Connectivity options on the smartphone include dual-band Wi-Fi, dual VoLTE, dual VoWiFi, 3.5mm headphone jack and IR Blaster.
POCO M2 price in India
The POCO M2 6GB + 64GB variant is priced at Rs 10,999. The 6GB + 128GB model carries a price tag of Rs 12,499. The smartphone will be available for purchase on Flipkart from September 15th at 12pm. ICICI and Federal bank cardholders can avail Rs 750 instant discount as a part of the launch offer.
