POCO X5 Pro launch date revealed during Pathaan screening

  • The POCO X5 Pro could be available exclusively via Flipkart
  • Reports indicate this is nothing but a repackaged version of the Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition
  • The phone will also include a 108-megapixel primary rear camera

The POCO X5 Pro is no stranger to leaks at this point. In addition to being snapped in public with Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya, the X5 Pro has also been spotted in live images and retailer teasers in the past two weeks alone. We’re now receiving confirmation on the phone’s official launch date in a rather unconventional fashion — during a screening of the Bollywood flick Pathaan.

An attentive cinemagoer named Sudipta Debnath captured an advert that popped up during the intermission of the screening, detailing the launch date of the POCO X5 Pro. As you can see below, the phone will make its Indian debut on February 6 at 5:30 PM. It’s unclear if this was a deliberate revelation or a slip-up, but we finally have a date to mark on our calendars.

POCO X5 Pro specifications

Based on what we know so far, the POCO X5 Pro will feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED screen with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Expect Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset to be running under the hood with support for 5G included. The screen could also feature HDR10+ out of the box, as per initial reports. Furthermore, customers will be able to choose between 6GB and 8GB of RAM, coupled with 128GB and 256GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot for good measure.

The X5 Pro is well equipped in the camera department, with the rear panel comprising a 108-megapixel primary camera, complemented by 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors for ultra-wide and macro capabilities, respectively. POCO is reportedly sticking to a side-mounted fingerprint scanner in lieu of an in-display offering.

Meanwhile, the front panel will have a 16-megapixel camera for selfies. A 5,000mAh battery pack with 67W fast wired charging capability should be on board. As noted by 91Mobiles, and pointed out by multiple reports in the past, the POCO X5 Pro is rumoured to be a rebranded variant of the Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition.

POCO X5 Pro expected price and availability

The POCO X5 Pro could be exclusive to Flipkart when it breaks cover on February 6. Pricing is expected to be somewhere between Rs 21,000 and Rs 23,000. Customers should be able to save more with card/bank offers via the e-commerce retailer.
