POCO X5 series launch timeframe has been seemingly revealed by POCO India head Himanshu Tandon. Last year, the brand launched the POCO X3 and POCO X3 Pro smartphones in India. However, this year, the brand only launched the POCO X4 Pro model.
Speculations are rife that the POCO X5 series will consist of the POCO X5 and the POCO X5 Pro. The X5 could be based on the upcoming Redmi Note 12 5G, according to rumours. The X5 Pro has reportedly been certified by India’s BIS authority and the FCC. Its Redmi-branded variant heading to China has also been approved by the 3C. On December 19th, tipster Yogesh Brar released a tweet that mentioned the names of the phones that will be released until India in February 2023. In response to this tweet, Himanshu dropped a hint that the POCO X5 series will also debut in the same timeframe.
It appears that the X5 and X5 Pro models may launch in January or February 2023 in India. Hence, it is likely that the first teasers of the X5 lineup may arrive in a few weeks.
POCO X5, X5 Pro specifications (rumoured)
The POCO X5 may feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 powered phone may arrive with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It may pack a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. On the front, it will have an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and its back panel has a 48-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (depth) dual-camera system.
The POCO X5 Pro is expected to arrive with a 120Hz IPS LCD panel, a Snapdragon 778G Plus or the newer Snapdragon 782G chipset, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. It may support 5G bands such as n5, n7, n38, n41, n77, and n78. Both phones may run on Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top.
