In August 2018, Xiaomi had introduced its new sub-brand POCO. Its first phone – the POCO F1 sold like hotcakes as it had arrived as the cheapest Snapdragon 845 SoC powered phone at the time. With a starting price of Rs 20,999, it gave some serious competition to premium flagship phones that were priced signficantly higher. POCO fans expected the POCO F2 to be launched in 2019. However, there was no announcement, and some felt the POCO brand would be killed as the company launched Redmi K20 Pro flagship phones with a cheap price tag. However, in an official statement today, Xiaomi has announced that POCO will now function as an independent brand, with its own team and separate marketing strategy.

Alvin Tse, global head of POCO also tweeted “It’s time to excite the tech and smartphone scene in 2020”, which further hints the POCO F2 launch is now around the corner. In fact, POCO India now has a dedicated website. However, only the POCO F1 is listed on the website. The logo of the company has also turned black on its social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. It is likely that POCO may soon introduce a new logo.
Also, in an interview with YouTuber Technical Guruji, Jain revealed that POCO will launch multiple products this year. He added POCO will have a different avatar as it has become an independent legal entity managed by a new team.
As far as the successor of the POCO F1 is concerned, it will be arriving with an affordable price along with a high-end processor with gaming capabilities and impressive cameras. He added that the POCO team will reveal more information on the forthcoming products in the near future. As far its launch is concerned, a new POCO phone will be coming soon, confirmed Jain.
The successor of the POCO F1 will likely be called the POCO F2, as the moniker was trademarked recently. Rumours surrounding it suggest that it could be the cheapest Snapdragon 855/855+ phone and may sport triple rear cameras. Since Jain said multiple POCO products are launching this year, a phone named POCO X2 that was recently benchmarked on Geekbench may soon turn into reality. It is speculated that the POCO X2 could be a rebranded version of the Snapdragon 730 powered Redmi K30 that went official in China in December 2019.
