Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processors have been announced today. The American chipmaker changed its naming tradition last year with the Snapdragon 8-series flagship SoC and now the trend has continued for the Snapdragon 6xx and Snapdragon 4xx series.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is a mid-range processor whereas the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is aimed at entry-level devices. Read on to know the specifications of both chipsets.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 specifications
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is based on a 4nm manufacturing process. It has an octa-core CPU comprising four Cortex-A78 and four A55 cores with a max clock speed of 2.2GHz. There is an undisclosed Adreno GPU that supports Vulkan 1.1 and HDR gaming. The chipset offers support for up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The performance of the GPU and CPU is said to be boosted by up to 35 and 45 percent respectively.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is capable of supporting up to 120Hz FHD+ display. It features 12-bit Spectra Triple ISP, up to 200MP camera support, and HDR videos. The chipset is integrated with X62 5G modem with support for mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G network. It also comes with support for WiFi-6E and quick charge 4+
The first Snapdragon 6 Gen 1-powered smartphones are expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2023.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor specifications
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is based on a 6nm node and offers 10 percent increase GPU performance and 15 percent CPU bump. The chipset also comprises of octa-core CPU with two Kyro Prime CPUs at 2.0GHz and six Kyro efficiency CPUs at 1.8GHz. The SoC supports unspecified Adreno GPU, LPDDR4X memory, and UFS 2.1 storage.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is capable of supporting 120Hz FHD+ displays and 108MP cameras. This one also features a triple 12-bit ISP. It comes integrated with the Snapdragon X51 5G modem-RF system along with the Qualcomm FastConnect 6200 system which brings support for WiFi 5.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is confirmed to power the upcoming iQOO Z6 Lite 5G which will debut on September 14th.
