Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 5G modem has been launched. The US chipmaker announced the next-generation modem for smartphones at the ongoing MWC 2022 in Barcelona, Spain.

The Snapdragon X70 5G is claimed to be the world’s first 5G AI processor. It arrives as the successor to last year’s X65 5G and comes with various upgrades. The latest modem chip is expected to debut in smartphones by the end of this year. Read on to know more about the Snapdragon X70 5G.

The Snapdragon X70 5G modem is based on a 4nm fabrication process. It utilises artificial intelligence and machine learning that is claimed to offer breakthrough 5G speeds, coverage, low latency, and power efficiency. The AI technology also supports and improves mmWave and sub-6GHz bands. 

The latest modem chip is also the first to support every commercial 5G band from 500MHz to 41GHz. This means that any phone with the X70 5G should connect to every network in any part of the world. 

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 5G modem is said to offer up to 10Gbps download speed and 3.5Gbps upload speeds. It also supports global 5G multi-SIM and Dual-SIM Dual Active. The Snapdragon X70 5G modem is claimed to be 60 percent power efficient thanks to the Qualcomm 5G PowerSave Gen 3 technology. 

Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon X70 5G modem is expected to launch in 5G devices at the end of 2022. While it’s yet to be confirmed, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor will likely incorporate the X70 5G modem.
