Razer Phone 2 With Snapdragon 845 Unveiled

American company Razer known popularly for its gaming devices has launched the Razer Phone 2. The latest device is a successor to last year’s Razer Phone. It comes with upgraded specifications and improvements in a few aspects. Let’s delve into the technical specifications:

Display & Design:

The Razer Phone 2 sports the same Quad HD 5.7-inch display as seen on its predecessor. It offers a whopping 120GHz refresh rate which displays smooth, seamless pictures and transitions. In terms of design, the device switches to a glass back that enables wireless charging. It is now IP67-certified for water- and dust-resistance. The Razer Phone 2 also features an illuminated logo at the back which uses Razer’s proprietary Chroma tech to switch between different RGB color profile.

Hardware, Battery & OS:

Under the hood, the Razer Phone 2 is equipped with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 clocked at 2.8GHz. The processor is paired with enormous 8GB of RAM and Adreno 630 GPU. To cope with heat dissipation, the device features vapour chamber cooling technology. This ensures that users enjoy uninterrupted gaming performance over prolonged periods. As for storage, the device offers 64GB of internal memory which is expandable via a microSD card slot.

To keep the device running, the Razer Phone 2 is backed by a 4,000mAh battery unit. It offers Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging and wireless charging support as well. On the software front, the Razer Phone 2 runs Android 8.0 Oreo with the popular Nova launcher layered on top.

Camera & Audio:

As for the camera, the Razer Phone 2 features a dual rear camera setup comprising of 12MP sensors from Sony. One is a wide angle lens and the other is regular. The camera features optical image stabilisation. An 8MP shooter is fitted on the front for selfies and video calling purposes. The device also offers 4K video recording.

As for audiophiles, the Razer Phone 2 is equipped with dual front firing stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos technology. The device lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack but Razer has bundled a 24 bit DAC dongle with the phone.

Pricing & Availability:

The Razer Phone 2 carries a price tag of $799 (Rs 58,500) with pre-orders starting in US the on the Razer website. There is no word on whether the device will make its way to India.
