On: April 13, 2019

Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth recently took to Twitter to announce that the much-awaited Android Pie update for the company’s smartphones will begin rolling out in June. We have now spotted the Realme 1 on the Geekbench database, running on the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system.

Realme 1 Expected to Receive Android Pie Update in June

Since it has already been officially confirmed that the Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 update for Realme phones will begin rolling out in June this year, the listing does not suggest the update may be rolled out sooner than expected. However, it does confirm that the update is being tested currently and the stable update will likely begin rolling out on time for the smartphone.

Realme’s first smartphone, the Realme 1 was launched in May last year with the Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.0 out of the box. It received the ColorOS 5.2 stable update in November 2018. Before the end of this month, the Realme 1 is expected to receive a software update with the April security patch. Apart from the Realme 1, Realme has confirmed the ColorOS 6.0 update for the Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro, Realme C1, and Realme U1. The only current Realme smartphone to run on ColorOS 6.0 version is the Realme 3, which was launched last month. Realme’s upcoming “flagship” Realme 3 Pro is also expected to launch with the Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 out of the box.

The Realme 3 Pro is set to be launched in India on April 22. It will take on the Redmi Note 7 Pro, which is currently the most impressive budget Android smartphone on sale in the country. Its main selling point is expected to be a more powerful chipset than its rivals, which will apparently allow it to run Fortnite at 60fps. Previously, it was rumored that the device may feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 chipset. Now, however, it looks like the Realme 3 Pro may be powered by a newer and more powerful Snapdragon chipset, possibly the Snapdragon 730G.
