Realme arrived in India as an OPPO sub-brand in May 2018. Later in the same year, it separated from its parent company to become an independent brand. Fast forward to the present, Realme has grown to become one of the fastest-growing companies in India as well as across the world. This year, the company launched a wide range of AIoT products such as smartwatches, smart TVs, smart cameras and more.
In 2021, Realme will be launching a wide range of AIoT products. In addition, the company also aims to become a number one brand in the segments like smart audio and smartwatch.
Realme to launch over 100 AIoT products in 2021
In an interview with IANS, Realme CEO for India and Europe, Madhav Sheth revealed the company’s plans on launching over 100 AIoT and lifestyle products in 2021. In the coming year, Realme will launch new generations of popular products like Buds Air, Buds Q, and smart TV. It will also release new TWS earbuds, smart plugs, smart bulbs, trimmers, and more.
Sheth said, “We are also going to launch 300-500 exclusive Realme smart stores to give customers a first-hand experience of the `Leap Forward` technology,” It plans to sells products like toothbrushes, suitcases, etc, through pharmacies and luggage stores to let people experience the products according to their purchase habits.
Realme also plans to introduce a smart speaker as there is a high demand for the category as per the brand. Sheth mentioned that users have asked Realme to launch other tech products such as home appliances ranging from electric juicers to air purifiers to ACs. Sheth said, “As a responsive brand, we will definitely keep listening to our consumers and evaluate possibilities to equip them with a ‘tech-empowered life’ and enjoy its benefits and pleasures.”
Realme’s plans to launch new AIoT and lifestyle products are in accordance with its 1+4+N product strategy that was announced back in June. The strategy involves one smartphone, four smart IoT products, for smart hubs, and N number of AIoT products.
At present, Realme has a few audio products such as TWS (true wireless stereo) earbuds, neckbands, and regular earphones. According to a recent market survey by Counterpoint Research, Realme held 22 percent market share in TWS segment in India in Q2 2020. The Realme Watch that debuted in April this year has also encountered good demand in the country. According to IDC’s report, it was the most shipped smartwatch in Q2 and Q3 with 21.3 percent and 24.1 precent market shares, respectively.
In the smart TV segment, Realme sold 190,000 smart TV units during the festive sales. Even though it is a new brand in the AIoT market, it sold achieved two million sales in the category this year. Over 30,000 offline stores sold the AIoT products of the company. As mentioned by Sheth, Realme aims to expand its market share in different product categories in 2021.
