MediaTek unveiled its latest Dimensity series chipset called the Dimensity 820 earlier today. The successor to the MediaTek Dimensity 800 brings increased CPU and GPU performance and improves 5G connectivity. At the same event, MediaTek announced that the first smartphone to feature the latest Dimensity processor will be the Redmi 10X.
Xiaomi has now teased the launch of the upcoming smartphone in China and also shared a poster revealing its colour variants and design. The Redmi 10X will feature a design similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro series and come in four colours.
Redmi 10X launch date in China
Redmi took to Weibo to post the launch poster of the upcoming smartphone. The poster confirms that the smartphone will be launched in China on May 26th. The text accompanying the poster revealed that the upcoming smartphone will be a mid-range device and be powered by the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset.
Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing shared the AnTuTu score of the smartphone, which is impressive at 4,15,672 points. In the launch poster we can also see that the Redmi 10X will be offered in a glossy finish with White, Purple, Blue and Gold paint jobs. The rear panel seems to retain the quad cameras in a square matrix just like the Redmi Note 9 Pro duo, although the module seems slightly elongated.
There’s no fingerprint scanner on the back, and the power button visible in the poster doesn’t feature an embedded sensor either. Therefore, we can safely assume that the Redmi 10X will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Redmi 10X specifications and features
As for the core specifications, the Redmi 10X is expected to ship with a 6.53-inch full HD+ display. The device is expected to launch in both 5G and 4G models, powered by the Dimensity 820 5G and the Helio G70, respectively. While the former has been confirmed by the brand, and the latter was recently spotted on the Google Play Console.
Coming to the optics, the quad-camera setup on the back is speculated to comprise a 48MP primary camera, accompanied by 8MP, 2MP and 2MP sensors. The handset is rumoured to feature a 13MP sensor in the front. Fuelling the smartphone will be a beefy 5,020mAh battery.
While we already know the colour variants of the 5G model, the 4G variant will be offered in White, Sky Blue, and Green colours. The former will be made available in 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB variants, and the latter will come in 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB configurations.
Reports suggest that the Redmi 10X will start at RMB 1,499 (~Rs 16,000). However, all this is just speculations at this point and we suggest taking the information with a pinch of salt. We should know the official details soon as the launch is just around the corner.
