China-based smartphone manufacturer Realme has launched the Realme 3 today. It is the successor to the Realme 2 launched last year. The device was teased on Flipkart and Twitter days ahead of its launch. Let’s see what this device offers out of the box:
Display & Design:
The Realme 3 sports a 6.2-inch display bearing an HD+ resolution and a dewdrop notch on the top. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass against accidental damage and scratches. The device flaunts a gradient unibody design and comes in three colors – Dynamic Black, Radiant Blue, and Classic Black. The back of the phone houses a vertical dual camera setup and fingerprint scanner. The Realme 3 is also splash and dust resistant.
On the optics front, the Realme 3 features a dual camera setup comprising of 13MP+2MP sensors with f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture respectively. Upfront, there is a 13MP sensor with f/2.0 for clicking selfies. Realme has added Nightscape mode which aids in taking more detailed pictures at night by keeping the noise under control. There is a Chroma Boost feature that enhances the colors in images in complex conditions. The camera is also backed by AI features like portrait mode, scene detection, AI beautification, and HDR. The front camera also works as a face unlock feature for additional security. The Realme 3 also supports slow-motion video recording at 90fps/720p.
Hardware, OS & Battery:
The Realme 3 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek P70 chipset paired with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU onboard. It is available in two RAM configurations i.e. 3GB & 4GB. In terms of storage, the former offers 32GB inbuilt memory while the later offers 64GB storage space. The storage is expandable up to 256GB via dedicated microSD card slot on both the variants. The Realme 3 draws its power from a 4,230mAh battery unit. On the software front, the device runs the latest Android 9 Pie with custom ColorOS 6.1 layered on the top. Realme claims that the device offers stock a Android experience. It comes with various features like App drawer, Motorbike mode, Smart assistant and Gamespace.
Pricing & Availability:
The base variant of Realme 3 bears a price tag of Rs 8,999. The higher 4GB model retails at Rs 10,999. The smartphone will go on sale starting from March 12 at 12pm. HDFC bank users can avail flat Rs 500 instant discount and Jio users can avail benefits worth Rs 5,300 on the purchase of the device. Going by the price, the Realme 3 will compete against the recently launched Redmi Note 7 and Samsung’s Galaxy M series.
Realme also announced that the Realme 3 Pro will be launched in April to compete against the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
