At a launch event held today, Realme has announced its Realme 5 series of smartphones. The lineup includes a standard and Pro edition, which come with major differences in terms of specs. Prior to launch, the company had teased some key features of the smartphones. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications below:
Display & Design:
Beginning with the Realme 5 Pro, the device sports a full HD+ display measuring 6.3-inches. On the other hand, the standard Realme 5 features a slightly larger screen measuring 6.5-inches but with HD+ resolution. Design-wise, the Realme 5 series comes with a waterdrop notch on the top and a thicker chin at the bottom. The back panel houses a conventional fingerprint scanner and a vertically stacked camera setup at the top left corner. The Realme 5 series flaunts a new crystal design with a holographic colour effect. The Realme 5 Pro can be availed in Sparkling Blue and Crystal Green colours while the standard variant is offered in Crystal Blue and Crystal Purple options.
On the optics front, the Realme 5 series is equipped with a quad-camera setup on the back. However, the module is different in standard and Pro variant. The Pro variant comes with a 48MP main Sony IMX 586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree field of view, 2MP super macro sensor, and a 2MP portrait lens. The standard Realme 5 has a 12MP main sensor with the rest of the sensors the same as the Pro variant i.e. 8MP ultra-wide-angle, 2MP super macro and 2MP portrait lens.
Up front, the Realme 5 and 5 Pro are fitted with 13MP and 16MP selfie snappers, respectively. The camera on both smartphones come with features like Nightscapes, Chroma Boost, and 4K video recording at 30fps, and slow-mo at 240fps.
Hardware, OS and Battery:
Under the hood, the Realme 5 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 712 chipset while the standard variant houses a Snapdragon 665 SoC. Both the devices are offered in three RAM and storage configurations with the former maxing out at 8GB+128GB, and the latter at 4GB+128GB. Both feature dual SIM slots and a dedicated microSD card slot for expansion. On the software front, the smartphones run Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.0 skinned on top. There is a HyperBoost 2.0 feature for optimizing the performance during gaming sessions.
The Realme 5 is backed by a massive 5,000mAh battery unit. The Pro variant draws its power from a considerably small 4,035mAh battery unit but with VOOC 3.0 fast charging support. It also comes with a bundled 20W charger in the box.
Realme Buds 2.0:
Alongside the launch of the Realme 5 series, the company has also announced the Realme Buds 2.0. The earphones are an upgrade to the original ones that were launched last year. The Realme Buds 2.0 come with an 11.2mm for delivering powerful bass. They feature built-in magnets, cable organizer, and a dual tangle-free cable that ensures convenience and better usage.
Pricing & Availability:
Starting with the Realme 5 Pro, the base variant i.e 4GB+64GB is priced at Rs 13,999 while the 6GB+64GB will retail at Rs 14,999. The top-end model i.e. 8GB+128GB carries a price tag of Rs 16,999. The price of the standard Realme 5 has been set at Rs 9,999 for the base 3GB+32GB variant. The 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB variants will cost Rs 10,999 and Rs 11,999 respectively.
The Realme 5 Pro will go on sale starting from 4th September, 12noon while the first sale of standard Realme 5 will be on August 27, 12 noon. Both the smartphones will be exclusively available for purchase on e-commerce portal Flipkart and Realme’s online store. As a part of the launch offer, Paytm users can get cashback worth Rs 2,000 discount on purchase of the smartphone. Jio users can avail benefits worth Rs 7,000. The Realme Buds 2.0 can be purchased for Rs 599 from 11th September across online and offline retailers.
