Realme 5 to be priced under Rs 10,000

Realme is creating buzz around its upcoming smartphone, the Realme 5. It is scheduled to launch on August 20 and will come in standard and Pro variants. The company has been revealing some key details about the two devices via teasers on its Twitter handle. 

In a recent tweet, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth revealed that the Realme 5 will be the industry first quad-camera smartphone featuring a 48MP sensor. It will also be priced under Rs 10,000 making it another first in the Indian market. Sheth also confirmed that the Realme 5 will be equipped with a powerful mid-range Qualcomm chipset. 

The official teasers and Flipkart’s live page dedicated to Realme 5 have confirmed a few specs on the upcoming smartphone as well. The video teaser shows the Realme 5 sporting a waterdrop notch on the front and a slightly thicker bottom chin. The camera module on both the standard and Pro variants will comprise of a primary lens, wide-angle lens, super macro sensor, and a portrait lens. The main camera will be a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture while the ultra-wide angle lens offers a 119-degree field of view. The Realme 5 Series is confirmed to be powered by a massive 5,000mAh battery unit along with support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging. 

While the rest of the specifications have not been revealed, the biggest difference between the Realme 5 standard and Pro versions are expected to be in terms of the processor. The former could come with a Snapdragon 665 chipset while the latter could house a Snapdragon 712 SoC. The Pro variant could also come with an AMOLED display and an in-screen fingerprint scanner instead of an LCD panel and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. 

The Realme 5 is rumoured to launch at a price tag of Rs 8,999 which is similar to the Realme 3. There are no concrete details regarding the Pro variant yet. We will have to wait until August 20th  where we will know more about the upcoming smartphone.
